Thursdays, 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. in Wilmslow
Dates: From 9 Nov to 14* Dec 2017 and then from 11 Jan to 15 Feb and 1 Mar to 22 Mar 2018.
(*If you are an A.T. pupil who has not visited these classes or MATTS before, please avoid the class on 14th December).
Following the closure of the Manchester Teacher Training School (MATTS) at the end of October. these Thursday classes offer a continuing friendly and supportive environment for teachers, mentoring and CPD hours for new teachers, experience and preparation for those considering training as a teacher in the future, and an opportunity for enthusiastic pupils to benefit from a professional training environment.
In these classes we will explore together the principles of the A.T, mostly through practical activites, exactly as happens on a traditional A.T. training course for teachers.
In addition to myself, regular teachers will include Malcolm Williamson (the director of MATTS), Nigel Evans (the main assistant of MATTS), Pauline Leng, Liz Hulse, Sue Fleming - and many more - and there will be occasional visits by notable senior teachers from further afield.
After some time these classes may form the basis for a new professional training course for teachers.
Although the class will be running most weeks, with breaks for the usual holidays, the classes are informal and teachers and pupils are welcome to come as and when they wish. Pupils new to these classes are requested to check with me before their first visit.
Mailing List: Please contact me to request addition to the mailing list for regular updates about the classes. If you have already received an email about these classes, then you are on the mailing list.
Class Fees: Until the end of this year there will be no charge for qualified teachers, and fees for trainee teachers and visitors will continue as before.
From January 2018, there will be a suggested contribution of £5 for A.T. teachers, a fee of £40 for trainee A.T. teachers and a fee of £50 for pupils. Fees may be lower for trainee teachers and longstanding visitors who have had other previous arrangements with MATTS - please contact me to discuss this.
Kathleen Ballard 's visit on 14th December has been cancelled and will be re-scheduled next year.
